Parametric Study of NOx Emissions in Circulating Fluidized Bed Combustor

Abstract


Fluidized bed combustion behavior of coal and biomass is of practical interest due to its significant involvement in heating systems and power plant operations. This combustion behavior has been studied by many experimental techniques. . Use of biomass in coal-fired power plants results in high efficiencies and fuel diversity. Co-combustion experiments were carried out in a pilot scale test facility of circulating fluidized bed combustor (70KW).  Effect of operating parameters on the NOx emissions is studied while burning coal with wheat straw. Relation between NOx emissions and operating parameters like bed temperature, excess air ratio, air staging, Ca/S molar ratio and fluidizing air velocity have been studied and discussed.
