Abstract

We report the structural and morphological changes in Zinc oxide (ZnO) nanostructures doped with Manganese (Mn). The doping was varied by atomic weight percentage from 0 %, 2 %, 6 %, 10 % by solid state reaction method. To study the properties of doped ZnO nanostructures, pellets were fabricated having diameter of 1 cm and thickness of about 0.5 cm. Morphological changes were observed using Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and structural properties were measured by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD). The SEM micrographs showed that the nanostructures were smooth and homogeneous. The average grain size was measured for each doping concentration. The grain size was increased by increasing the amount of doping except at 10% doping of Mn where grain size was decreased. XRD results confirmed that increasing the doping concentration influenced positively on the grain size.
